Through a variety of UCSB programs and institutes, including the Quantum Foundry and the Research Mentorship Program, QPL hosted several interns this summer to work with our graduate students on exciting quantum photonics experiments:

  • Vanessa Santillan: Characterized new types of chip-scale entangled-photon pair sources
  • Mitch Peterson and Daniella Polishchuk: Worked on automation of quantum optics experiments
  • Liao Duan: Benchmarked integrated quantum photonics components in AlGaAs-on-insulator
  • Max Shen: Set up a testbed for high-dimensional quantum key distribution with integrated photonics
  • Landon Hellman, Sammy Umezawa, and Arjun Choudhri: Developed new methods for 2D material transfer to MEMs devices for tunable single photon sources
  • Alex Dinkelacker: Spent the summer with an internship at LLNL
  • Trung Kien Le: Spent the summer with an internship in Irfan Siddiqi's group at Berkeley
