Nick Lewis was born and raised in San Jose, California. He graduated in 2019 with a B.S. in nanoengineering from UC San Diego and is pursuing an M.S. in UC Santa Barbara's ECE Department. His current research interests include both the fundamental properties and engineering applications of quantum materials. Nick hopes that his research will help pave the way for next-generation quantum technologies. Outside of research, Nick enjoys hiking, swimming, cooking, and drinking coffee.
Recommended Reading:Advanced Semiconductor Fundamentals by Robert Pierret provides a clear and in-depth analysis of fundamental semiconductor properties. The material is comprehensive by covering everything from quantum mechanics to energy band theory and recombination-generation processes. Another book, Surely You're Joking Mr. Feynman, is a very lighthearted and fun read that sheds light on how Richard Feynman viewed the world.
