Alex is a Quantum Foundry research intern and an undergraduate student in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UCSB. He is currently pursuing his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Physics. Born and raised in Santa Barbara, he has worked at local technology companies such as FLIR Systems. With his passion for higher education, leadership, teaching and working with others, he strives to make a positive impact in the dynamic field of engineering research. His current undergraduate research focuses on fabricating and characterizing integrated quantum photonic circuits and single-photon photodiodes relevant for quantum information processing and photon detection.
Recommended Reading: "Div, Grad, Curl, and all that"by Harry M. Schey. I was fascinated by the explanation of Maxwell's equations and the thoughtful explanation of Maxwell's connection between light and electromagnetism in the book. This book started my interest in electromagnetism, which eventually turned into me majoring in Electrical Engineering.
